Note: A Paid Zapier Account is Required to add a Filtering Step to Zapier
There are many reasons that districts may want to reduce the number of job postings that get added to their social media feeds, but the main issue most districts encounter when using the Zapier integration with SchoolFront/RecruitFront is "spamming" their social media feeds with job postings, which can overwhelm the district's other social media content if the district regularly generates new job postings in SchoolFront and/or generates many job postings at the same time.
A "Filtering" step can be added to any zap configuration to reduce the number of job postings Zapier sends to social media.
A. Determine How You Will Filter Your Job Postings
There are 2 Job Posting data fields that we suggest using to filter your job postings:
- Application Type and/or Job Category
Application Type
You can cause your zaps to include or exclude job postings that are posted with a specific RecruitFront Job Application.
Options include:
- Teacher / Admin
- Coach
- School Related Personnel
- Superintendent
- High School Student / Volunteer
Job Category
You can cause your zaps to include or exclude job postings that are posted with a specific Job Category.
There is no limit to the number of Job Categories a district can configure. Job Categories are defined by the school district in SchoolFront and can be modified by: Configuring District List Management.
A few example Job Categories a district might use are:
- Teacher
- Substitute
- Clerical
- Operations
- Transportation
- Food Service
- Extracurricular
- Seasonal
B. Add a Filtering Step to a Zap in Zapier
1. Configure a zap by following one of these sets of instructions:
-
Generate a Social Media Post for Job(s) Posted in the Last 24 Hours
OR
- Generate a Social Media Post for Each New Job Posting in SchoolFront
2. Add a step to your zap directly after the trigger.
3. Select Filter from the tool menu.
4. Under Filter Conditions, select Choose field...
5. From the drop-down menu, select either App Application (to filter on Application Type) OR Job Category.
6. Under Filter Conditions, select Choose condition...
7. Select one of the conditions, for example "(Text) Contains."
8. In the field that says "Enter text or insert data..." enter the text you will use to filter.
-
Example 1:
- Choose a field... = Job Category
- Choose a condition... = (Text) Contains
- Enter text or insert data... = Teacher
-
Example 2:
- Choose a field... = App Application
- Choose a condition... = (Text) Exactly Matches
- Enter text or insert data... = Teacher / Admin
9. (optional) Add additional conditions to further restrict job postings posted by Zapier by tapping +Add or +Add "Or" rule group.
10. Tap the Continue button.
C. Complete Other Steps and Test and Publish Zap
11. If you haven't done so already, complete configuration on all other steps in the zap and Test run the zap by tapping the button in the upper right corner of the interface.
- Instructions for 1 job per social media posting.
- Instructions for all jobs in last 24 hours social media posting.
12. Once you have tested the zap and are satisfied with its operability, Publish it by tapping the button in the upper right corner of the interface.
