Why Change Your Username?
When a user is first onboarded to SchoolFront, they are setup with an account that is associated with their personal email address. This is done to give the user access to the system so that they may fill out onboarding forms prior to being setup with a district email address. Once a user has been given a district email address, the HR department may want to make your username the district email address, especially if your district utilizes SSO for login to SchoolFront.
Role Permissions:
Any employee at the district who has editable access to the financial system can make this change.
Any SchoolFront user with the Administrator Role can change and reset the username within SchoolFront. Please refer to the procedural steps below for how.
Note:
If this change is made in the financial system, you will need to wait until the next feed comes through for the changes to reflect in SchoolFront. Optionally, you can manually update the username prior to the next feed import. Please refer to the procedural steps below for how.
If your district sends SchoolFront a financial feed, this change must be made within the financial feed, read below to learn how to make the change manually before the next feed refresh.
If your district uses SSO, please remember to review the "How To Login" section below.
Requirements:
If this change is made within SchoolFront, without making it in your financial reporting system, the change will be overwritten within SchoolFront by the next financial feed import.
Change Username Procedure:
If your district does not send us a financial feed jump to step 2.
If your district uses SSO please remember to follow step 8.
- Update the user's work or personal email address within your financial system.
- Login to SchoolFront as an Administrator.
- Go to Staff -> All Staff.
- Search for the affected user.
- Click the magnifying glass next to their name.
- Press Edit.
- Change the "Work Email Address" or "Personal E-mail Address" address field to the new email.
- If you would like this user to utilize SSO, add their district email to the "External User Identifier" field.
- Press Save
- Press the "Login Information" button within the lower grid.
- Press the "Reset Username" button
The user should now be able to login with the new username. Follow the steps below to learn how.
