Okta SSO Setup with SchoolFront

SchoolFront can authenticate Okta users with Single Sign-On (SSO) for both the SchoolFront website and the mobile app. In order to make this work properly, please follow these steps.

Register the Web Application

1. Log into your Okta Admin Console, go to Applications and Resources > Applications and click Create App Integration.

2. Select OIDC - OpenID Connect as the sign-in method and Web Application as the application type, then click Next.

3. Enter SchoolFront as the App integration name. Set the Sign-in redirect URI to https://OKTAAuth.schoolFront.com/OKTASignInProcessRedirect.aspx (this is case-sensitive — copy and paste it exactly). Set assignments to the users or groups who need access, then click Save.

4. On the application's page, locate the Client ID, Client Secret, and Okta Domain values.

5. Securely send all three values to support@schoolfront.com so SchoolFront can complete the setup.

(Optional) SchoolFront Mobile App

This section assumes SchoolFront Web SSO is already configured above, and covers creating and registering a separate, native Okta application for the SchoolFront mobile app.

Register the Native App in Okta

1. Log into your Okta Admin Console, go to Applications and Resources > Applications and click Create App Integration.

2. Select OIDC – OpenID Connect as the sign-in method and Native Application as the application type, then click Next.

3. App integration name: enter a recognizable name (e.g., “SchoolFront Mobile App”).

4. Grant type: keep Authorization Code selected.

5. Sign-in and sign-out redirect URIs: confirm the domain matches your Okta org and the URL follows the format shown.

6. Assignments: choose the users or groups who should have mobile access.

7. Leave the remaining settings at their defaults and click Save.

Send Credentials to SchoolFront Support

8. On the new application's page, click the copy icon next to Client ID.

9. Securely send the Client ID to support@schoolfront.com so SchoolFront can complete the SSO setup for the SchoolFront mobile app.
