Worked hours over the "Overtime Threshold" set here is multiplied by the "factor" on the Totals time of the timecard when calculating Weekly OT pay.
Overtime Threshold (# hours)
- Worked hours greater than this value can be considered overtime
- Weekly Overtime has its own row on the user's timecard Totals section
Factor
- Multiplication factor for the OT calculation on the timecard
When setup, worked hours on a specific day after that day's threshold are considered Daily Overtime.
Please Note: Daily Overtime hours are NOT counted towards the Weekly Overtime threshold. Daily Overtime has its own row on the user's timecard Totals section.
Start After (Hours)
- For each day in the week, worked hours greater than this value can be considered overtime but on that specific and regardless of if total worked hours is greater than weekly Overtime Threshold
- NOTE: 0 value means all worked hours are overtime, NULL, means none are overtime
- Required when Factor has a value
Factor
- Multiplication factor for the Daily OT calculation on the timecard
- Required when Start After (hours) has a value
When setup, worked hours on Days specified as "Holiday" on a user's Work Calendar, is Holiday Overtime and is calculated on the user's timecard using this factor. Holiday Overtime hours do not count towards any other OT category when this factor is applied. Holiday Overtime has its own row on the user's timecard Totals section.
Factor
- Multiplication factor for the Holiday OT calculation on the timecard
When set up, a user that works at least [Minimum Hours per Day] Monday through Sunday [Minimum Days] days in a row, will receive Consecutive Day Overtime pay. Consecutive Overtime has its own row in the user's timecard Totals section.
Minimum Days
- Consecutive days worked Monday through Sunday (at least [Minimum Hours per Day]) threshold
Minimum Hours per Day
- Is the minimum worked hours on a day for it to be considered a Consecutive Day
Factor
- Multiplication factor for the Consecutive Day OT calculation on the timecard
The Shift Differentials rules below, specify special rates for hours worked within a start and end time. Shift Differentials can be setup to either require a Shift (Punch in Time) fall withing the Start and End times to receive that rate increase, or to have all worked hours within the Start and End time receive the Hourly Rate Increase ($) increase. Shift Differentials have their own row in the user's timecard Totals section.
Shift Start Time
-
Option 1: A shift must start within the defined time bracket to receive the Hourly Rate Increase
- The default is Option 1
- When selected, a shift that starts within a shift differential's Start and End time, receive the Hourly Rate Increase ($) defined in SD1-3 below for the entire shift
- The rate increase is in effect for the entire shift
-
Option 2: All worked hours that occur within the defined time bracket, receive the Hourly Rate Increase regardless of when the shift started
- When selected, "Start" time has no bearing, all worked hours between Start and End times will receive the Hourly Rate Increase ($)
Shift Differential 1 - 3
-
Start
- Start Time threshold
-
End
- End Time threshold
-
Hourly Rate Increase ($)
- Rate increase added to the Staff Position's Pay Rate
-
Worked Minutes Threshold
- When set, worked minutes within Start and End must be greater than this value before the Hourly Rate Increase is used for the shift
How the System Resolves Overtime Type Conflicts
When worked hours qualify for more than one of the above types of overtime, the system will use the type that has the largest Factor.
For example, let's say a Staff Position's Pay Modifier is setup as follows:
- Weekly Overtime:
- Factor: 1.5
- Threshold: 40 hrs
- Consecutive Days Overtime:
- Minimum Days: 5
- Factor: 2.0
- Daily Overtime
- Start After: 8 hrs
- M-F
- Factor: 1.5
And a user has the following worked hours on their timecard:
- M - F: 10 hrs each day
- Sat: 8 hrs
For a total of 58 worked hours of which:
- 40 are Regular Hours, and
- 18 are OT hours
For this example, the system would:
- Use the 1.5 factor for the 10 hours Daily Overtime
- Because there is a conflict for the 8 hours of OT worked on Sat (those hours qualify for both Weekly and Consecutive Day Overtime), the system would use the largest factor of the two types which is 2.0
- Consecutive Day would then (not Weekly Overtime) appear in the Totals tab
If the Factors are equal, the system will resolve conflicts as follows:
- If Holiday Overtime work hours on the timecard, this type wins
- Else if there are Daily Overtime worked hours, use this type
- Else if there are Consecutive Days Overtime worked hours, use this type
- Else use Weekly Overtime
