Districts have the ability to export Attendance to a file that can be imported to nVision. This allows Employee Attendance Balances to be easily updated in nVision after they are used or granted in SchoolFront, so that accurate Accruals are maintained in both systems.

Pre-Requisite: Modification for Export - Absence Code Setup Modifications
The file import format that nVision uses for an Attendance Code must be only three (3) characters. Therefore, if the Attendance Codes have been setup in the system with more than three characters, they must be reduced to three or less characters. An example of this would be an Absence Code set up as Sick, should be changed to S or SI, or SIC, etc., for the export / import to function properly.
To Edit Absence Codes
1. Navigate to Time & Attendance / Setup / Absence Codes from the left navigation menu
2. Review the list of Codes displayed under the Absence Code column
3. Click the magnifying glass for the first Absence Code that shows a code longer than three (3) characters in the Absence Code column
4. On the lower half of the screen, click the Edit button
5. In the Absence Code field, change the code to a code that is three or less characters. The Description and all other fields may remain the same
6. Scroll to the bottom of the window and click the Save button
7. Continue with this process until all Absence Codes listed are three or less characters
Creating the Export File
To create the export file that can then be imported into nVision, follow the steps below:
- Navigate to Time & Attendance / Attendance from the left navigation menu
- Select the employees you wish to export by checking the boxes in front of their rows in the list
- You can use the filtering feature under any column to select a specific set of employees. For instance, you may want to export by Attendance Group or Work Location and can filter using these columns to do so. You can also filter by All Empty under the Export Guid column to select any row that has not yet been exported
- Once the list of employees has been filtered for export, clicking the small black box with white check marks in the upper left corner will select all the employees in the filtered list
- Click the Export Attendance via Grid button at the top of the screen
-
In the Export Selected Entries to nVision pop-up window, verify the number of selected entries, then click the Export button
Once you have exported the information, the columns labeled "Export GUID and "Export Date" will be populated with the most recent relevant export data.
SchoolFront does not have its own Import Template in nVision, but the Import Template in nVision used by Subfinder, can be used for this import providing the layout of the report is the same. Below are the import parameters nVision gives for importing data using the Subfinder Import Template:
