Employees can submit Absence Requests from a Timecard for themselves or any Staff Position where they are listed as an Approver by following steps listed below. Elevated users can submit Absence Requests from anyone's Timecard.
Applicable Roles
Personal Profile Only - A user with this Role can submit a Absence Request for themselves or any Staff Position where they are listed as an Approver.
Administrators, HR Admin, Attendance Admin, and Business Office - Users with and of these Elevated Roles can submit a Absence Request for any Staff Position.

Run the Form from the Timecard
Run the Form from the Timecard
- Run the form by selecting the grey pencil
- Select the correct Category and Form from the drop downs
- Select your Date Range:
- Full Day, or
- Partial Day
Full Day Absence Requests
- Enter the Start Date and click "Continue"
- Ensure your Position is selected in the dropdown menu
- Select the appropriate Absence Code from the dropdown
- Enter Comments for the Absence Request
- If Comments are required, they will be marked with *, depending on the Absence Code in use
- Substitute Needed
- Please Note: This and the following steps through 9, are only visible to employees that have positions that require substitutes if absent, AND your district has SchoolFront's Sub-Calling system. If you require a substitute, ensure the box is checked. If not, proceed to step 10.
- Check the box "Select Only Certain Dates and/or Times" if you will only need a substitute for a portion of the time you are requesting off
- Select "Request Substitute" from the drop-down if applicable
- Enter Substitute requests information for Human Resources, if applicable
- Enter Comments for the Substitute, if applicable
10. Click "Generate Preview" to review the form, enter any additional comments and sign/submit the form.
Multiple Day Absence Requests
- NOTE: Multiple Day Absence Requests can not be Initiated from a Timecard, go to Available Forms > Absence Requests or the Attendance Grid and submit the Absence Request there.
Partial Day Absence Requests
- Select "Partial Day" for the Date Range
- Enter the date you are requesting the partial absence day for and click "Continue" (If you need to edit the date, simply enter the correct date and click "update")
- Ensure your position is the correct position you are requesting the partial day absence for
- Ensure the schedule is correct based on the position
- Select the appropriate absence code from the dropdown menu
- Enter the hours that you will be absent
- Check the box, "Deduct Scheduled Lunch" if you want your scheduled lunch to also be deducted from the duration of the request
- Enter Comments regarding the partial day absence
- Click "Generate Preview" to review the form, enter any additional comments and sign/submit the form
