SchoolFront offers the ability for substitutes to manage their potential and accepted jobs via text message. When a substitute is setup in Time & Attendance and they have set their sub-calling preferences as text messaging in the district’s system, they will receive substituting opportunities by text! If the substitute’s scheduling preferences show them as available, and a substitute job becomes available, they will receive a text message from the automated system containing the jobs that are available.
Receiving A Text from the System
Available substitutes will receive a single text message containing all available substitute opportunities:
NOTE: All substitutes should add 585-542-1900 to their cell phone contacts so these texts don’t get caught in SPAM filters!
Accept / Decline a Job
Substitutes can accept or decline a substitute opportunity sent via text message using a simple response text message rather than logging into SchoolFront or through the Interactive Voice Response system, or IVR.
Commands
Any of the following commands may be sent in response to the automated text messaging system:
- Accept – Texting the sub-finding system with the word “Accept” followed by the Job ID # of the Substitute Job the substitute would like to accept, will accept the job.
- Accepted - Texting the sub-finding system with the word "Accepted" prompts the system to send the substitute a list of all future substitute positions they have accepted.
- Available - Texting the sub-finding system with the word "Available" prompts the system to send the substitute a list of all future substitute positions they are eligible to accept.
- Decline – Texting “Decline” followed by a particular Job ID # will decline the job.
- Declined - Texting the sub-finding system with the word "Declined" prompts the system to send the substitute a list of all future substitute positions they have declined.
- ? - Texting the sub-finding system with a "?" prompts the system to send the substitute a list of all possible HELP options.
Accept / Decline Multiple Positions Simultaneously
To accept or decline multiple available positions via the automated text system, substitutes can either use the ACCEPT or DECLINE command followed by the job numbers.
Example: ACCEPT 12026 14568 89569
The above example would result in accepting the 3 positions following the word ACCEPT while using only one text message response.
